Hello PVA Band Families!
As you may already know, our instrument rental night is coming up on Tuesday, August 28th from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
During this time, Mr. Roberts and his team from Rhapsody music will be in the Palm Valley Academy cafeteria in order to assist parents in renting/purchasing instruments for band class this year.
Students in band are currently trying several instruments and ascertaining which they want to play in their band career! Depending on which instrument your child picks, you will have various options in order to obtain an instrument for your child
Option #1 –
If your child chooses one of the following instruments, you will be responsible for renting or purchasing an instrument through Rhapsody Music or another instrument vendor:
- · Flute
- · Oboe
- · Clarinet
- · Alto Saxophone
- · Trumpet
- · Trombone
Option #2 –
If your child chooses one of the following instruments, then they are owned by the school. You simply have to pay a 125$ cleaning fee. This fee goes to getting the instrument cleaned/serviced at the conclusion of each school year.
These instruments are:
- · Bass Clarinet
- · Tenor Saxophone
- · French Horn
- · Tuba
Option #3 –
If your child chooses to play percussion, then there is no fee to have the instrument cleaned. All percussion equipment is owned by PVA, and there is no fee associated with using the percussion equipment during band rehearsals at school. However, it is strongly recommended that you purchase a practice pad with sticks, and a bell kit with mallets. These items will be used exclusively for home use. This is so your child can practice and prepare for playing tests at home.

Mr. Roberts will also have these kits available for purchase at the instrument rental night.
However, if your child already has a drum/drum set, then you do not need to purchase a practice pad. Additionally, if you already have a piano/keyboard in your home, then your child can practice their mallet percussion parts on that. Therefore, they would not need to purchase the bell kit.
The deadline for your child to have an instrument in class is Tuesday, September 4th. Every student in band is expected to be prepared to play their instrument on this day.
